Romania ranks among the EU countries with lowest share of fast growing companies behind Bulgaria and Hungary, according to the EU data published on Eurostat.
Fast growing companies are considered those having at least 10 employees and a rate of increase of minimum 10 percent for three years in row on this number.
According to statistics, fields scoring the lowest share of companies with fast growth were: IT&C – 15.3 %, administrative and support services -14 %, transport and storage – 12 %.
Over 158,000 firms in the EU were considered fast growing companies, representing 9.9 % of the overall number of companies in EU with at least 10 employees.
Romania came second to last in the EU with a share of only 2.3% of companies with high growth, trailing behind Hungary (12.5 %) and Bulgaria (11%).
In Romania, only 5.9% of the employees were working in fast growing companies.
The top positions belong to Ireland (14.9%), Malta (13.7%) and Hungary (12.5%).
