Six out of ten Romanians plan to make at least one online acquisition on mobile devices until year-end, according to a study published this Monday and put together by online platform iVox.ro at the request of the company Blugento, specialized in e-commerce solutions supply.

The study highlights that mobile devices are becoming increasingly important in the online acquisition process taking into account that 4 in 10 respondents say that they buy online monthly and 3 in 10 use the mobile or tablet to make this kind of acquisitions.

“However, close to half of the online stores are not optimized for mobile, which is absolutely necessary to remain competitive in this industry. And in an industry with such a high competition, not having an online store optimized for mobile means, most probably, that a quarter of the sales are lost,” said Sandu Babasan, the general director of Blugento.

According to the study, the smartphone became extremely important for many Romanians, 9 in 10 saying that they own a smartphone and out of these, over 80 percent access websites directly from mobiles. The study also shows that on the first place in the top of Romanians’ preferences of acquired products are clothes, followed by electronics, household appliances and cosmetics.

The users of mobiles for online acquisitions consider that they can make online transactions from smartphones in a more accessible manner, more comfortable and without time and location constraints, according to the study. Five in ten buyers who use mobile phones make online orders with values between RON 100-500.
