
Income taxes, contributions to social security budgets, fees and other levies and dues accounted for 20.3 percent of the total household expenditure in 2016, amounting to a monthly average of 513 lei, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) informs in a document.
“Taxes, contributions, fees, dues, account for a large share in the total household expenditures where earnings from salaries represent the predominant incomes. Thus, in 2016 their share of total spending was 29.2 percent for employee households, compared to 13.6 percent for jobless households.
Consumption – the main destination of household spending – accounted for 71.7 percent of total expenditures on average. Consumption expenditures amounted to a monthly 1,810 lei/household, and expenditures on food (including from public catering establishments), non-food and service payments amounted to 1,612 lei per month (63.9 percent of total spending).
According to INS, the other segment of consumption expenditures, the equivalent of the human consumption from own resources (food and non-food from own resources consumed by household members) amounted to 198.1 lei / household, accounting for 7.8 percent of the total expenditure.
